Silence - IF

Nothing says silence like a rusty old truck left out to pasture in the back paddock. I saw this forgotten gem on a relative’s property and fell in love with it instantly. I couldn’t wait to draw it! I initially sketched it using a 2B lead pencil then used a 5B for the darker shadows and Derwent colour pencils to capture its rusty colours and textures. It was great to get back to basics and just draw something on paper. Now I just have to do more…
Silence - sketched using 2B & 5B lead pencils and Derwent colour pencils on cartridge paper.

  1. So, are you back to blogging? :D I think we all go through ups and downs as time goes on. Terrific old truck you've captured with the rusty bits and rusty drum. Nicely done! I keep seeing colored pencil that looks really cool but I don't need a new medium LOL.

  2. It's lovely - I agree, it's nice to just observe and DRAW something from life - does something for the brain and body! You've made it look really elegant and the windscreen looks great. The medium suits the subject.

    1. Thanks Gay! I think drawing in detail slows you down - its something that can't be rushed which is a pleasant change in this crazy whirlwind of a world ;)

  5. Where we live you see rusty abandoned vehicles frequently. They look just like this! A little sad and lonely, just waiting for someone to come rescue them. Beautiful drawing!!
