Illustration Friday: Sight
Phoebe had temporarily lost sight of where she was going. Was she out of her mind? Engulfed in darkness, she couldn't see a thing. In fact, it was so dark, she had completely disappeared into the abyss...
After being out of sight for what seemed like an eternity, Phoebe finally found her way back out into the light. It was bright. Squinting and blinking, she put on her rose coloured glasses... ahh, much better! Now she could see exactly where she was going and it had never been clearer (or rosier or brighter). Her destination was back in sight...

Sight - initially sketched by hand, then redrawn using illustrator. Phoebe was coloured in illustrator too. The background was created using Photoshop. Stars added just because... |
Ooooo! I like it!
ReplyDeleteThanks Claire!
ReplyDeleteYou know I'm a huge Phoebe fan! Glad to see her back in the light & back on IF!!! :)
ReplyDeleteMe too... been going through IF withdrawal symptoms ;)
DeleteLove the stars! Love the lovely night sky! And ah, Phoebe, crawling out of the abyss, a tragic figure finding her way back to the light. I don't mind saying I was wondering where Phoebe had gotten to... so glad to see she made her way out of the darkness (queue swelling music)! Now please, someone, give the poor dear a sandwich! ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks Cindy - she could definitely do with a bite :)
DeleteLove this, as I always do!
ReplyDeleteThanks Rita x
DeletePhoebe is home! Her swirly body is the clue that she is one with the celestial action. Those rose tinted glasses though, make me wonder if she's really Janis Joplin reincarnated? (She certainly has the hair for it too.) Lovely colors and composition!
ReplyDeleteFunny you should mention Janis Joplin - my first direction with this was 60s phsychodelic with out of sight rose coloured glasses but as per usual the idea morphed into something completely different - only the glasses remained... ;)
ReplyDeleteGreat illustration Karen, love the colours and Phoebe's swirling locks:)
ReplyDeleteThanks Amanda! x
DeleteWow very neat! I love the character!
ReplyDeleteThanks Miranda! x
DeleteI keep staring at that starry, gorgeous sky. Your character is a really wonderful mixture of a little drama and a little fun. Let's hear it for rose-colored glasses!
ReplyDeleteOh yeah! Rose coloured glasses make everything appear better... thanks for your comment and follow! x
DeleteGreat drama here. I see Phoebe is a signature character of yours. I love the visual flow of the character.
ReplyDeleteThanks David! Phoebe is definitely a tongue in cheek drama queen - she keeps me sane... x
ReplyDeleteVery well done Karen. I love your character and your writing. I can totally relate to how she feels, only I wish I could remember where I left those rose coloured glasses!
ReplyDeleteThanks Amalou! Hope you find your glasses soon... x
Deleteadorable - the rose glasses are so sweet
